176 - the trouble with scrubble

reverse-flipping a table is a really good party trick; it will impress everyone!

it is especially useful if you have just ruined the party, by angrily flipping a table

EDIT: Well butts, I got halfway through drawing the new strip and my drawing tablet decided to die forever :(

I have ordered a new one, but it probably won’t be here until after monday.

Which means I will have to make strips by HAND like some sort of CAVEMAN, so keep an eye out for them!

All those goddamn tiles and squares! Why can’t they make it easy to understand…like cricket? ;)

  2. threshold says:

note the usage of the same position of the arms three times in this comic (p2,5+6). shame. shame you. and no, I am not bored and yes, I have a life.

  3. Fletcher says:

@threshold Good spotting, I didn’t think about that. Oh well, at least they weren’t copy+pasted. My conscience is clean!

  4. I eat paste says:

His arms are the same in panels 2 and 5 because he’s basically doing the same thing: magic.

  5. Ad says:

Shame Fletcher’s last name isn’t Wachowski, those sequels were god awful

  6. Firesickle says:

Brilliance, I need to learn that trick badly

@Ad come on they weren’t that bad, you’re expectations were too high. The mythos is actually pretty cool.

  7. chris says:

    I love the Matrix trilogy

    And this comic

  8. iloveradiohead :3 says:

reminds me of duran duran’s music video.

  9. Flechtersmom says:

always love the comics, but the comments underneath are what really makes me laugh!

  10. bleepblop says:

    what word was fletcher spelling?

  11. Boxes says:

Woah I see circles in the corners of the panels. They also play scrabble standing up. I know I would not be able to stand that.

  12. dor says:

    PFFFFFFFFT.
I-I can’t even explain why this made me laugh so hard, it just… did. Maybe it was just satisfying to see a joke that relies on unexpected good things instead of unexpected bad things.

I love how you included the bag of tiles, too. Nice attention to detail. :)

  13. krickit says:

Fletcher is Tim? This explains Braid!
    Why isn’t Copernicus sparkling green?

  14. Anonymous says:

    UNLEASH THE ANGER EYEBROWS

  15. Loonitic says:

Note to self, imitating Fletcher does not guarantee succes

  16. Scrubble, yo! says:

    This pertains to my interests
    I got 269 on my Scrabble game yesterday ;A;

  17. danineteen says:

I know a few people who could do with that skill.

  18. Stephen says:

    gotta love reliable tablets

  19. Sprinkles says:

    Please just MS paint it.
    That would be hilarious.

  20. Jack says:

Just thought I would point out, in panel 1 the vertical word is 6 letters long and in the last panel it is 5 letters long. Sorry Fletcher, your magic is full of continuity errors.

  21. Fletcher says:

Gosh darn it Jack, you are right. All my effort have been for naught, I am still just a hack I GIVE UP

  22. fluffy bunny slippers says:

@Jack: Is it wrong that Fletcher “fixed” the game? (probably the score too)

Also… Drawing comics by hand is so easy a caveman could do it… in a cave… in the dark… using feces and blood… On another note, I am really looking forward to these special hand drawn strips

  23. krickit says:

I keep on thinking it says revers e-flipping
    Kerning man, kerning!

  24. The Pepper Gamez says:

    @bleepblop
    The word is *****.

  25. The Pepper Gamez says:

    @Fletcher
Don’t worry about magic mix-ups. It’s not really fixed. Unless you wanted Copernicus to win (see the length of Fletcher’s last word).

  26. The Pepper Gamez says:

    No wait, I messed up.
    Again.
    Now Copernicus must die again.
And get treats for things that haven’t happened yet.

  27. Hank says:

come on fletchie, those 24 hour comic day comics you did that one time were pretty neat
let’s have some more of those
